An English-language Facebook page named Humaniora has been launched to promote news and events related to the study of the humanities at the University of Debrecen (UD). The objective of Humaniora is to present our institution’s educational and scholarly achievements to as broad an audience abroad as possible, thereby increasing the development of international relationships at the student, faculty, researcher and academic levels alike.

Tamás Horváth, a senior student of UD, majoring in physical education and adapted physical education, beat a strong field, leaving everyone behind, at the 25th International Student Science Conference (NTDK). There were more than a hundred participants at this conference from universities around the world presenting their research findings. Also representing the University of Debrecen, Bálint Karap was placed third, while Laura Mázik also did a good job.

While the original French rendition of Notre-Dame de Paris tours the world with a 200-ton set, a group of students of the University of Debrecen sparked a standing ovation with just a few movable pallets and their boundless energy at oDEon Theatre, last Sunday evening. The dominant feature of the performance was the impressive talent of a culturally diverse youth cast.

With almost 6,500 visitors, this year’s International Food Day saw record-breaking attendance. The exceptionally well-received event was organized by the Student Union of the University of Debrecen and the International Student Union (ISU) which represents the foreign students at the university. This year, as many as 36 nations’ specialties were available for attendees to taste at the northern event area of the Nagyerdei Stadium, along with the performances of young musical talents and bands of the international student community who entertained the guests until dawn.

Once again, the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Debrecen has served as a meeting place for the region’s economic stakeholders. At the 16th TTK Career Day, key players in the job market offered students direct job and internship opportunities, while the focus was on dual training programs, international perspectives, and majors tailored to Debrecen’s dynamically developing industry.

The University and National Library of the University of Debrecen (DEENK) has joined the exhibition celebrating the 100-year history of the Collegium Hungaricum in Vienna, regarded as one of the cradles of Hungarian cultural and academic diplomacy. DEENK contributed to the exhibition’s rich collection with unique and rare volumes evoking contemporary Vienna and the early years of the collegium.

Students at the University of Debrecen (DE) will soon be able to learn about U.S. history through a new hybrid course. The program is being developed through a collaboration between faculty members of the English-American Institute at the Faculty of Humanities. UD, (BTK) and Earl Mulderink, a professor of history at Southern Utah University (SUU), under a cooperation agreement signed last year to promote educational and research projects.

Nine PhD students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen visited China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing, a city with a population of over 9 million. The primary goal of the trip was to deepen professional and scientific cooperation between the two institutions.

The University of Debrecen and Schaeffler Debrecen Kft. have recently signed a sponsorship agreement. Accordingly, the university students are going to build an electric car that they plan to use to enter the Formula Student series competition next year. The German company, which manufactures bearings and automotive electronic systems in Debrecen, will be supporting the UD Formula Student team as a chief sponsor in the future.

This year, the University of Debrecen has received a prestigious award from the Ministry of Culture and Innovation in both the “Sports University” and “Student Career Development University” categories. At the gala held Monday evening at the Royal Palace in Gödöllő, the institution’s strategic endeavors were honored, and the awards were accepted by Chancellor Zoltán Bács, Vice Rector Károly Pető, and DEHÖK (Student Union of UD) President Kevin Németh.
