This year, the Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Debrecen (DE) organized the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in Debrecen for the fifth time. On Sunday evening, October 5, musical and dance performances on a stage set up in the heart of the city center welcomed the traditional festival, which has a history of several thousand years in China.

On the occasion of Hangul Day, a holiday dedicated to the Korean alphabet, a Korean Cultural Day was held at the Kölcsey Center. The University of Debrecen was also involved in the event, as Korean has been taught in the city for ten years now, within the frameworks of the Debrecen Summer University.

Irish Ambassador to Hungary Ragnar Almqvist has recently visited the University of Debrecen, accompanied by his mother, Éilís Ní Dhuibhne, a distinguished representative of Irish literature. During the first year of Pannonia Scholarship Program, the University of Debrecen registered the highest number of mobility participants nationwide, with a total of 950 students and staff members receiving scholarships to support their study trips abroad. This new scholarship program continues to offer a broad range of opportunities for members of the academic community at the University of Debrecen in the 2025/2026 academic year and, thanks to increased institutional support, the number of future participants is expected to grow further.

The most recent graduates from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Debrecen were declared doctors on Friday. There were as many as 147 medical doctors of Hungarian and foreign nationality receiving their diplomas at the ceremony.

Russian Cultural and Language Center of the Faculty of Humanities is launching a new language course primarily for foreign students enrolled at the University of Debrecen. Besides students of our university, high school students and other residents of Debrecen can also take advantage of this opportunity to learn Russian at one of three levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).

The women's tennis team led by Dean Kinga Bágyi achieved the best result in its history at the European University Games. At the tournament in Portugal, the university's athletes finished in third place.
